12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

· Segment: The segment I identified are people travelling to work early in the morning. I have multiple coworkers that fall in this segment to interview.
· Findings of my research: I interviewed four coworkers for this assignment. One did not have this need, so I moved on. The other three all at basically the same time, driving to work. One interview stated that anytime they are on the road they would like to get a coffee. Two interviewed will go to the closet coffee shop like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts when they need to pick up coffee in the morning. The other will bring a coffee from home because of the location. All of the interviews choose to fill their need based solely on the location of the coffee shop.
· Conclusion: Based on the interviews it seems the need awareness is easy to recognize and there is little information search done to fulfill this need. In order to fill the need once its recognized, location seems to be the only thing that matters. This lines up with everything I have experienced so far in this process.
Chris,
ReplyDeleteThe need for a coffee in the morning will never go away, unless people prepare their own at home. This makes this proposition perfect, especially in an underserved location.
Chris,
ReplyDeleteI agree with the conclusion you have come to. I think that location of the coffee shop is very important and it must be on the way for me to stop for it. I feel like this is exactly how many others will feel as well. They want to feel that stopping to get a coffee is not an inconvenience to their daily drive to work.
Chris, great job analyzing your customers’ needs. I fall into the category of the homemade coffee, but for me, it is due to a better taste and not having to spend $5 on a cup of coffee. This differs from person to person, but as I said before, making the coffee at the price level of Dunkin Donuts’ instead of Starbucks will likely bring more customers in. Location is truly a huge factor when it comes to getting a quick cup of coffee, and you can greatly benefit from this by opening your own coffee shop.
