21A – Reading Reflection No. 2 ENT3003 Chris Ward Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. 1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? · This book is about the two mindsets people tend to have. The fixed mindset, where you believe things are the way they are and unable to develop or change with work. The other is the growth mindset, a much more desirable trait, which is when you believe that talents and intelligence can be developed with the right amount of work. 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? · The theme of this book is all about development and taking failure as a lesson rather than defeat. I liked how in your elevator pitch you used the stats on what was being built around to emphasize your customer base. I also enjoyed how your pitch didn't really feel like a pitch but a conversation. I think you could use this in daily life to start conversations about your potential business. I think you have a great idea. It makes sense if houses are being built it is just a matter of time before retail stores such as a coffee shop would be in high demand.
ReplyDeleteHey Chris,
ReplyDeleteStill a great pitch. I agree with Victoria; the pitch felt like a conversation more than a pitch, which I loved. I think if you talked more about the unique selling point of the coffee shop, I'd be sold.
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteYou keep your pitch very straight forward and simple. I like that you get right to the heart of the problem that there is a lack of coffee options in your area. The high demand you layout is a huge selling point for investors. You had clear enunciation and maintained a good volume throughout the pitch. One thing you could add is what would make your coffee shop stand out from others aside from its location.
